My portfolio is coming along! I talked with Jonathan and he said it would be fine. I've been playing around with iweb and have been very impressed with the ease of it. Two issues: the movies embedded are supposed to be wma files? I just changed the name of then end of the title to wma and they seem to play...but get frozen visually after a few seconds. Not sure if that's a long term issue. Also, I tried uploading my resume onto the site and I can't get it into a pdf format that will show up on the site (which is back). So I ended up changing the background of the site and now you can read the resume. In addition i'll make a link to it on the front page.

E-portfolio and web work
This week, I worked on the website and edited a lot of stories. Didn't have too many issues with the editing. I went and asked reporters if they would save an image and most of them did. But I did have to ask them again and do it myself. I didn't realize I had to make a freeze frame first. I may have been doing it another way. I also tackled the issue of finding capitalization corrections in stories like titles in names.

Updating Smart Decision
This week I was in charge of updating the Smart Decision website. I first went through the front page and made sure all of the Missourian headlines were copying over. Then, I checked the KBIA website to see if things were copying over as well. There wasn't too much to do for the website.
We also had a vodcasting meeting this week where we discussed what our plans are for the daily podcast. We are going to try and produce a show every day of the week (Monday-Friday). We will produce the podcast by putting together the most important stories of the day into about a 7 minute show and then shoot it in the studio as an on-set or weather wall. I'm hoping that we can do both jobs the same day and have a certain day that we're producing/anchoring it. Hopefully, it will be useful to our audience.

Missouri Headlines...
Alright...this past shift I spent the day working the dot-com shift. First, I started working on just reading the stories online to check for errors. Then I went and saw if reporters had the large image for the website. At the time, it was right about when the reporters were still importing so I had to wait. The biggest part of my day was working on Missouri Headlines. Mike taught me how to do them and I updated the headlines all afternoon. By about 4:30, it started getting a little busier and we were working on getting all of the requirements on the board checked off. Before I left, I wrote the 10 pm stories on the board and made the checklists for them.

This week I worked on the Decision 2008 website. We accomplished three things that will hopefully bring the site up and running. I looked for stories in the recently updated section to make sure they were on the main page, updated stories to see the "full text" which included seeing pictures and finally posting video on the photo website (splash?).
I had some ideas for Super Tuesday including going to different places and seeing how people are watching the returns come in. We could put together a package that could go online or on TV. We could also blog the evening. I could take a video camera (mini dv) or regular station camera....I know that Obama supporters are meeting at the Blue Note to watch returns. Thinking of some other ideas....
